First Christian is a non-denominational Christian Church which follows the Bible and believes it to be the infallible word of God. As you will see in our services, we place a high value on community, and the bond that connects us as a church family. This may include laughing through the happy birthday song, or praying for one another by name. This family connection carries into the week with group Bible studies and activities that pull us together and strengthen our faith.
During the service, you will experience a modern worship style which values the past and comes directly from the traditions observed in the book of Acts. We begin with an invocation seeking God’s presence and blessing on our time. The Worship Team then leads the congregation in a time of musical worship with a mix of modern songs and traditional hymns. These are songs of celebration and thanksgiving that hope to engage the worshiper and draw him or her into a spiritual unity with our Savior. The centerpiece of our service is found at the Communion table. Communion is a memorial which was instituted by Jesus, practiced in the early church, and continued each week here. It is the Lord’s table not First Christian Church’s, so if you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, feel free to partake with our family. We next offer a time for our members to practice stewardship through the tithe and offering. You can find an account of our giving in the bulletin each week. Following this is an opportunity to use the restrooms as well as say hello to our church members. Youth are dismissed during this time. If you have children, we invite them to join with our kids and see what the Youth Group has to offer your family. Once seated, the Church’s Pastor, Dr. Ken Haskins, will share his weekly sermon. Pastor Ken is a very knowledgeable person who is dedicated to his ministry here at First Christian Church. We believe, like us, you will find his sermon very informative and applicable to today’s culture and time. Please feel free to talk to him if you have questions about our weekly service or practices.
Here at First Christian Church, we acknowledge that Jesus is the head of the church, and we are the body. Our mission is found in the commission “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” It’s our duty to share the Gospel with the people in the area and to build them up in Christ. We are a group of believers bonded together by the blood of the Savior who encourage each other to live like Him. We invite you to come and take part in that. Please let us know if there is any way we may assist you in your faith journey or pray for you along the way.
